Bank Holiday Online Meeting 13th April 2020, 8:00pm

Hi All

The online meetings have been going well, with attendances having around 9 or 10 members each night.

It’s good to see how everyone is doing and good to keep in touch.

We’ve successfully navigated the technology and for this week we are using the “Paid” version of the Zoom software.

The Jitsi test we did last week proved to us that Zoom is much better quality, both sound and picture and it is easier to use, so we have purchased the Pro version which means there will be no more reconnects after 40 minutes.

Just a reminder that we will be meeting this Monday, even though it is a bank holiday. We will be announcing the results of the March Rust Theme and judging the April Theme Wheels.

As we agreed to meet throughout the summer rather than taking our normal 4 month break, we need to think of some activities to fill in the extra meetings, currently we have the last week in each month pencilled in for judging that months theme. You can see the amended program here.

Have a nice Easter and stay safe

See you all on Monday

Online Meeting Tonight

Hi All

Hope you are keeping safe and well and are following the rules

It would be good to see all members at tonights online meeting, last week we had 10 members connected and we were able to show and judge images entered for Januarys theme “Streets”

This week we will be giving the results from last week and showing Images entered for the February theme “Patterns”

We use the Zoom software, which seemed to work well last week.

For best results install the software on to your laptop or tablet, however, it will work from a smartphone but please find somewhere to prop it up without using it hand held.

It may be useful to get yourself prepared before the 8:00pm start time with the software install, the positioning of the camera, the lighting (try not to sit in front of a light, we are all photographers, we know the rules) and proximity to your wi-fi router (a weak signal may cause the video to break up) etc.

All members will already have received instructions via email explaining how to connect to a Zoom meeting and separately sent the current meeting ID, if you don’t have this information please email Correen or myself or use the contact us page on the website.

Any new or prospective members are welcome to join us, please request details using the Contact us page of this website.

Subject: Weekly meeting update.

Hi Everyone

For those that weren’t present last night, the members made the decision to pause the weekly Monday meetings until further notice due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

I’m sure everyone agrees this is the safest course of action.

Bill also won’t be out doing his AV shows to local groups.

We will continue to monitor the situation and the governments advice and will look to reinstate when it is safe to do so.

For now I haven’t cancelled the judge for the next competition (portrait) on the 27th April just incase, but it’s likely we won’t be back by then.

I will keep everyone updated.

Stay safe everyone.

Regards

Correen
